Our instrumental teachers are the best there is and our guitar teacher trained at Paul McCartney's LIPA. Ben has been teaching for over 12 years and is happy to teach guitar and Bass. We use the internationally recognised "Rock School" course along with our own scale syllabus, Shaun Baxter's "Guitar Gym" and various accelerated learning techniques.
Scales and arpeggios
We tailored our scale syllabus to provide an easy way to start improvising along with the backing tracks we provide. We teach a really easy method of memorising the neck of the guitar using the 7 modes of the major scale... Sound pretty geeky? Stuck with your music homework?
Students can easily contact us in between lessons for help and advice either by telephone or over the internet. We're happy to supply students with our mobile numbers, email and instant messaging details so we're always on hand to help if you get stuck with your homework.
Online support
All instrumental students at Chimera Studios will also be entitled to free membership of "Music Tutor Online" when it is launched in mid 2008. The site will provide online course materials as well as a guided daily practise routine.

Rock School
National Curriculum course
We are happy to teach the official
"Rock School" syllabus.
Students can enter exams graded 1 to 8 and will be awarded an internationally recognised certificate.
Instrumental lessons cost £20 an hour and the price includes all course materials, printed music, software and backing CDs.
The rockschool syllabus is easy to follow and teaches all aspects of instrumental performance and music theory in the
same way that classical grades do.

The "Rock School" pieces are based on popular styles and the syllabus is regularly updated to keep it sounding fresh. The pieces are both good fun and easy to play, they make it easy to see your progression through the grades and along with our scales syllabus they represent a great way to start playing fun songs immediately and progress all the way to a professional standard.
